 Foreclosure Assistance & Prevention Resources

While the County does not provide direct assistance to those facing foreclosure, their Department of Housing and Community Development works closely with local community organizations that offer assistance, including foreclosure prevention workshops, housing counseling services, and other programs that may be helpful for households at risk of foreclosure.  Please contact the agencies listed below for more information on the programs they offer.

As the number of foreclosures has increased, so has the number of foreclosure-related scams targeting consumers.  Homeowners are urged to avoid counselors who charge an up-front fee and also to check the counselor's credentials.  The Federal Reserve Board of Governors has released a list of tips and resources to help consumers avoid becoming victimized by foreclosure scams, locate a reputable housing counselor, and report suspicious activity:  http://www.federalreserve.gov/newsevents/press/other/20090305a.htm
