WIC Program



WIC is a nutrition program for women, infants and children. WIC helps families by providing checks for buying healthy foods, nutrition and breastfeeding education and support, and referrals to health care and community services.

WIC serves:

  • Pregnant women
  • Postpartum women until 6 months
  • Breastfeeding women until 1 year
  • Infants
  • Children under the age of five including foster children

Clients may be referred from county health clinics, private providers, or may self-refer.




Eligibility Requirements:


  • Live or work in Santa Barbara County
  • Be in a category served by WIC:
    • Pregnant women
    • New Mothers
    • Infants
    • Children up to age 5
  • Demonstrate a need for WIC foods by having a nutrition need
  • Have an income below 185% federal poverty level (see guidelines) and/or recieve Medi-Cal, CalFresh or Case Aid.
  • Working Families May qualify
