Santa Barbara County Employees' Retirement System "SBCERS"

Retiree Health Insurance

Your Plan Sponsors (County of Santa Barbara and Santa Barbara County Superior Court) offer a choice of medical plans to retirees, all of which include prescription drug coverage.  Retirees are also offered other insurance such as dental and vision.  If you retired from active employment status from Santa Barbara County or The Superior Court of Santa Barbara County, you may have a right under the COBRA law to continuation of group health coverage from your former employer.  Visit SBCERS' COBRA page to learn more.

Retirees can also usually enroll in employer-sponsored group health insurance during the annual Retiree Open Enrollment that occurs in October with changes taking effect for January 1 through December 31 of the following year. Open Enrollment is usually the only opportunity each year to enroll in or change healthcare plans. Plans, benefits and rates may differ from year to year and from one Plan Sponsor to the next. For more information, visit the SBCERS' Open Enrollment page or follow the links to Open Enrollment Guides and forms below.
