  • Some County offices will be closed for the winter holiday. Click here for more information.
  • Don't let a criminal steal your EBT card benefits. Please click here to learn about a text/phone message scam that has been reported.
  • Need affordable health coverage? Open enrollment for Covered California plans starts November 1, 2017 and ends January 31, 2018. If you already have a Covered California plan, you can renew or change it for 2018 from October 2017 to December 15, 2017. You can enroll at other times only if you have a qualifying life event, like having a baby or getting a new job. You can apply for Medi-Cal year-round.
  • Need help putting food on the table? Apply for CalFresh (food stamps) in 10 minutes with our new GetCalFresh online application.
  • Your kids deserve health coverage. Since May 2016, children under 19 are eligible for full-scope Medi-Cal regardless of immigration status, provided the household meets the income standards.
  • The state and federal Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC) can provide a big cash-back bonus to low-income working households. If you don't file your taxes, you could be leaving this money on the table. Click here to see if you're eligible for the credits. If you filed your taxes for 2016 but didn't claim the credits, click here to learn how to amend your return.
  • Got a pet? Do you receive MediCal, CalWORKs, General Assistance, or CalFresh? The Santa Maria Valley Humane Society will now spay, neuter, or vaccinate your pet against rabies for free. Learn more here.
  • Can't get to our office? We hold office hours (outstations) at many other locations on a regular schedule. Find out when we'll be in your neighborhood on our Contact Us page.
  • Need help but not sure where to turn? Dial 211 or visit for help finding services: health care, child care, domestic abuse support, counseling and more.
