Department of Social Services

Welcome!

We're here to help.

The Santa Barbara County Department of Social Services provides protective and supportive services to help individuals and families in our community be safe, supported and self-sufficient.

What can we help you with?

What would you like to do?

Did you know?

  • PLAN AHEAD: EBT SYSTEM OUTAGE. From 11pm Saturday June 23 to 11pm Sunday June 24, 2018, you will not be able to use your EBT card to get food or cash, and the EBT customer service phone number and EBT client website (www.ebt.ca.gov) will not be available. Normal service will resume after 11pm on June 24.
  • Can't get to our office? We hold office hours (outstations) at many other locations on a regular schedule. Find out when we'll be in your neighborhood on our Contact Us page.
  • Kids can enjoy free meals and activities with Picnic in the Park this summer (Jun 11-Aug 10, many locations countywide). Some schools are offering free summer meals too: to learn more, text SUMMERFOOD to 877-877.
  • Not sure where to find help? Visit www.211santabarbaracounty.org or call 211 on your phone for help finding services: health care, child care, domestic abuse support, counseling and more.
  • Never share your EBT card number and PIN number: this information can be used to steal your benefits. Beware of scams: the county or state will NEVER call or text you to request this information.
